My daughter recently spent a week at a musical theater camp called “Defying Gravity” that was produced by the cast and crew of the Broadway touring company of Wicked. She had the time of her life and there’s no way we could have managed this opportunity were it not for homeschooling.
One of the reasons my wife and I sprung for the camp is that we wanted her to have some interaction with people actually working in musical theatre so that the dream of Broadway fame could meet a little of the reality of auditioning in front of other students nursing those dreams. Sometimes it feels like our kids’ dreams are foolish and it’s tempting to want to try to kill those dreams ourselves. But, as my friend Todd Wilson says, ” God can kill the stupid dreams.”
