“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” – Mark Twain
Why do you homeschool? Silly question, right? Because we want to teach our children. Duh. Well, I submit to you that, if you want to succeed over the long haul with homeschooling your kids, this question is vital. Believe it or not, there will come a time when the question will ask itself. Probably in the middle of February, you’ll hear a somewhat deranged and disembodied voice say, “Why are you homeschooling?!” or perhaps “Why are we homeschooling?!” You may or may not immediately recognize the voice as your own asking the question.

As a dad, it’s my job to make sure my kids grow into adults who are spiritually, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and financially healthy and prepared to handle life on their own. With God’s help, I will succeed.
And homeschooling is a large part of how I will succeed. That’s what I have to remind myself when it’s the middle of February and I want to give up.
So, why do you homeschool? Is your ‘why’ enough to get you through the tough times?
